Build It Green’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Lawrence Simi has been appointed Interim CEO of Build It Green. Simi, a former executive at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), brings a wealth of experience in the public sector and a track record of strong leadership, strategic thinking and stakeholder collaboration.
“We are thrilled that Larry Simi, a dynamic and visionary executive, will be leading Build It Green over the next 12 months,” says Cheryl O’Connor, Board President of Build It Green (BIG) and Executive Director of HomeAid. “The coming year is critical for BIG’s long-term growth and continued success as a green building innovator. We now have an experienced leader to chart our strategic direction and position us for success in the changing landscape of California’s climate and energy policy.”
Simi, in his more than 20-year career at PG&E, built a legacy of accomplishment and collaboration. He served in a variety of executive positions, including Public Affairs Director, Director of Governmental Relations, and Director of Community and Local Governmental Relations. Simi has served on numerous nonprofit boards and government commissions, including United Way of the Bay Area and the Coro Center for Civic Leadership (2014 Board Chair). He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the California Commission on Judicial Performance (2012-2013 Chairperson), and he currently serves on Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Military Academy Advisory Board.
“I’m honored to join Build It Green, whose pioneering work is so important to helping California address climate change and transform the market for green homes,” says Simi. “Our state is leading the nation in addressing our greatest energy and environmental challenges, and BIG has a unique opportunity to shape that effort. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and make things happen.”
