Updates to GreenPoint Rated for new homes emphasize resiliency and low carbon design
GreenPoint Rated New Home Version 8 goes into effect January 1, 2020 and applies to GreenPoint Rated projects that will be permitted under California’s 2019 building code.
CALGreen mandatory measures are still prerequisites in GreenPoint Rated Version 8. Also, a new prerequisite requires that a Certified Energy Analyst prepare the project’s Title 24 compliance documents to help ensure they accurately reflect the building’s design and anticipated energy savings.
Version 8 emphasizes resiliency, with strategies that address climatic extremes including wildfire, extreme heat, flooding and extreme precipitation. The new version also includes innovative pathways for residential buildings to achieve California’s goals for net zero energy and low carbon homes.
